Expenditure data has been extracted from annual expenditures of central and local government using UN Classification of the Functions of Government (COFOG) codes for ‘Environmental protection’ GF05 and ‘Recreation, culture and religion’ GF08.
Natural heritage represents expenditure on environmental protection, and cultural heritage represents expenditure on recreation, culture and religion.
Per capita is calculated by - (Expenditure on environmental protection or recreation, culture and religion / UK Mid-Year Population)*1,000,000
