This table provides metadata for the actual indicator available from UK statistics closest to the corresponding global SDG indicator. Please note that even when the global SDG indicator is fully available from UK statistics, this table should be consulted for information on national methodology and other UK-specific metadata information.
Developing countries’ and least developed countries’ share of UK imports
This indicator is not directly relevant to the UK as it is a developed country. We therefore report developing countries’ and least developed countries’ share of UK imports, including both goods and services. This provides an indication of the UK’s trade engagement with these countries.
|Unit of measurement||
Developing countries include all countries eligible for official development assistance (ODA), including least developed countries (LDCs). For a full list of ODA recipients and LDCs, please see the OECD website. Note that the list gets revised every three years and this is taken into account in the calculations (for example, some countries have graduated from LDC status since 2018 and since 2021).
Share of total imports calculated separately for all countries from ODA list (developing countries), LDCs, and developing countries excluding China - (Share of total imports/Total imports) * 100
The trade figures used for the calculation of this indicator are subject to revision aligned with National Accounts policy. This indicator is being used as an approximation of the UN SDG Indicator. Where possible, we will work to identify or develop UK data to meet the global indicator specification. This indicator has been identified in collaboration with topic experts.
