This table provides metadata for the actual indicator available from UK statistics closest to the corresponding global SDG indicator. Please note that even when the global SDG indicator is fully available from UK statistics, this table should be consulted for information on national methodology and other UK-specific metadata information.
This indicator shows the percentage change (latest year on previous year) in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (Average) per capita at market prices. This differs from data presented on the UN SDG database, as values have not been converted to US dollars (see the Global metadata for more information).
|Unit of measurement||
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the main measure of the size of the economy, representing the total value of all final goods and services produced in a defined time period. The ONS has published What is GDP? and GDP and me to explain what GDP is and how it relates to everyday life. Quality and methodology information for the UK GDP measure can be found here.
Data going back to 1956 are available from the UK Economic Accounts (see Sources tab). Data follows the UN specification for this indicator. This indicator has been identified in collaboration with topic experts.
